Mothers’ Union

About

Mothers’ Union is a Christian worldwide organisation with 4 million members, for women, men, married or single, with or without children. Our Martyrs branch covers a range of ages. we meet on the third Wednesday of each month in the church hall.

Mothers’ Union aim “to make a difference” be it local (grass roots) or worldwide needs, all aided with prayers.

At monthly afternoon meetings, we pray, welcome a speakeror chat about a topic and socialise with tea and cake. Some members may just decide they would like to join to support our many causes such as :

• Worldwide literacy projects

• Small loan schemes to enable women to support themselves in business
• Aiding the homeless
• Working with domestic violence survivors
• Funding “Away From It All” holidays for local families in need
• Knitting/craft items for the Maternity Hospitals and dementia sufferers

Our branch recently highlighted the 1 in 3 domestic abuse campaign with a poster and knitted chains for display, to draw attention to our anti-modern day slavery campaign. We collect items for the women’s refuge.

MU are represented in groups at the United Nations as well as being listened to by our Governments.
“Mothers’ Union are the heart and love of the church” – the Most Reverend Justin Welby, Archbishop of Canterbury.
