A very warm welcome
to Martyrs Church!

We are a intercultural, all age, vibrant Church of England community in Leicester located just off Narborough Road. Here you will find people who worship who are from a variety of places, age groups and diverse backgrounds. Whoever you are and whatever you believe, you are welcome at our Church.

Together we seek to encourage and support one another in our faith journeys and in demonstrating the good news of Jesus to those around us.

We are passionate about the fact that God loves every human being and together we try our best to share this love in and around our community, especially through social action and justice issues.

Whether new to this area or just interested in exploring faith and spirituality, you are very welcome to come along to one of our Sunday or midweek gatherings, or perhaps to join in with some of the other events happening at the Martyrs (please check out our What’s on page).

Commemorating the Centenary of the Great War 1914-1918

Roll of Those who Died from the Parish and Congregation of the Martyrs, Leicester
1914-1919

Affixed to the wall of the chancel of the Church of the Martyrs, Leicester are two brass plaques commemorating those from the parish and congregation who lost their lives as a result of the Great War 1914 – 1918. The names on the plaques are provided in the two tables below.

A small group has begun researching the names of those individuals and are keen to hear from anyone with connections to any one of them. We would be particularly interested to hear of anyone with memories or photographs of them. If you have any information or wish to know more please contact us.
